Raising SME Finance Through Capital Markets - A Regulator's View

This event hosted by The British Chamber of Commerce Zambia will look at raising SME finance from a different perspective - that of a regulator.

Options for raising capital in Zambia, especially for SMEs, are limited and generally expensive. The meeting will look at alternatives, such as an AIM or perhaps an over-the-counter market in which company stocks are traded by brokers. Consideration will also be given to the current state of, generally, unregulated alternative finance mechanisms such as B2B, Peer to Peer and Crowd Funding - how these may develop in Zambia and the extent to which regulation may be applied in future.

The keynote presentation will be by Bert Chanetsa, who had had a distinguished career as a regulator in the financial services industry. The event is being held in conjunction with the Securities and Exchange Commission and with the support of the Toronto Centre.

If you wish to attend, please contact the British Chamber no later than midday on 5 March by email. All are welcome.
