Zambia Entrepreneurship Summit 2019

The Embassy of the United States of America, the Women’s Entrepreneurial Center of Resources, Education, Access, and Training for Economic Empowerment (WECREATE), the American Chamber of Commerce, Atlas Mara, and Hivos are pleased to announce the 2019 Zambia Entrepreneurship Summit (ZES).

President Edgar Lungu has been invited to be the Guest of Honor at the opening ceremony, where U.S. Ambassador Daniel L. Foote will join him in viewing some of the exhibits and meeting some of Zambia’s brightest entrepreneurs.

The 2019 ZES will bring together Zambia’s entrepreneurial and business community to a forum for business linkages, entrepreneurship development, and networking opportunities. The goal is to facilitate opportunities for Zambian entrepreneurs to pitch their business plans. The ZES has adapted the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) industry themes, including five “Future Now” sectors: Agriculture/Food, Connectivity, Water/Energy, Health, and Access to Finance.

Exhibitors include banks, microfinance institutions, business regulatory agencies, development entities, and empowerment groups that will display their products and services designed to support entrepreneurs and innovators.

This year’s Summit, themed “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: The Future Now, Leaving No One Behind,” will connect a wide network of youth- and women-led enterprises with these established businesses, lenders, investors, and policy makers to pitch business plans, explore financing options, share ideas, and advance business development and market opportunities. The theme aligns with the 2017-2021 Seventh National Development Plan for Zambia, which aims to accelerate development efforts towards the Vision 2030 without leaving anyone behind.

The U.S. Embassy’s support for the 2019 Zambia Entrepreneurship Summit is part of the U.S. government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and women’s and youth empowerment to help Zambia create a better economic future.

This year, organisers expect a record turnout with a target of more than 150 exhibitors. Participation is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.
