Eden University was established in 2001 with the support of the brethren from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It currently has 3 schools - school of education, school of medicine and health sciences, and the school of post graduate studies. The university is also fully registered by the Higher Education Authority and is accredited by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), and the General Nursing Council of Zambia (GNC). If you are a professional and can not enroll full time, Eden University also offers distance learning.

In its broadest terms, the University's purpose is to promote excellence in teaching at all ranks as well as excellence in learning.

Eden University's goal is to see teaching equally valued with research as a professional commitment of faculty and teaching assistants. The University provides training and resources to make excellent teaching possible.
