All chalets at the award winning Mfuwe Lodge are equipped with en-suite showers, twin wash basins and toilet, international power sockets, toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, skin moisturiser), hair dryers, personal safes, mosquito nets and air conditioners. Chalets also have their own private decks.
Mfuwe Lodge is set inside the park, just five minutes' drive from the main gate. The lodge's allure is instantly obvious. Beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany, its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled. Thanks to a thorough refurbishment in 2010 the airy interior of the lodge is an exquisite complement to its natural surroundings. This region of the park is well-known for its prolific game – giraffe, buffalo, antelope, crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge's lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.
Whether you stay overnight, or just have lunch en route to a bushcamp, Mfuwe Lodge's relaxed charm and enviable surroundings make it the perfect stopover. Voted Best Lodge in Zambia in 2009, Mfuwe Lodge also offers you the chance to relax at its bush spa or buy a few momentos of your time in Zambia at their curio shop.
Being one of Africa's most unspoilt and remote national parks, the South Luangwa National Park offers you the opportunity of viewing a wide selection of wildlife including elephants, baboons, vervet monkeys, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, impalas, waterbucks and bushbucks, Thornicroft's giraffes, wildebeests, as well as wild dogs.
Bird watching is also superb in this area. Knowledgeable and friendly guides will share their love of the wildlife and local areas. On night drives, chances are high that you will see lions on the hunt and leopards (the density of leopards here is among the highest in the world). And even rarely seen nocturnal animals like the honey badger, porcupine and civet, are often seen by spotlight.
From the spa's private deck, with its views over a wildlife-rich lagoon, you can continue your game-viewing in style as you sink into a heavenly herbal jacuzzi or enjoy a Zambian reflexology foot massage. Indulge each of your senses at the bush spa with its classic design, sounds of the surrounding bush, a refreshing herbal drink, exotic aromas and, most importantly, the skilled hands of their highly trained local therapists.
