K3.2M Kapiri Lodge commissioned

Speaking at the commissioning of Kapiri Lodge on 6th October 2018, Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale says local contractors need to be empowered to facilitate retention of resources in the local economy.

Mr. Mwale who was speaking at the commissioning of the newly constructed Kapiri Mposhi Town Council said government needed to make deliberate efforts to empower local contractors as their capacity was proven.

“We must try as much as possible as government to empower local contractors as a way of returning money in the economy. We want people that can reinvest in the local economy, we are very proud to see a local contractor deliver works such as these, and we know that many other local contractors are delivering quality works as well” the minister said.

Tomorrow Investments Limited the contractor on the project appealed to government to give confidence to all local contractors.

Tomorrow Investments Limited Corporate Affairs Manager Mutale Mwamba said local contractors had the capacity to deliver quality works and they were ready to participate in the government driven infrastructure development agenda in the nation today.

“The building we are commissioning here today is demonstration that local contractors have the capacity to deliver and government must give them confidence if they are to thrive, Mr. Mwamba said.

Kapiri Mposhi Town Council Chairperson Obby Kabasa said Tomorrow Investments Limited had been picked to construct the facility through the standard tendering procedure and they were able to commence works without any advance payment.

The ten-roomed double storey Lodge which was built at a cost of K3.2 million with financing from the Kapiri Mposhi Town Council and the local Government Ministry’s Equalisation Fund is meant to boost revenue for the council.
