This monthly events blog highlights up and coming events for the month, so if any of the functions stand out for you, you can get your golden ticket! This month we have the following top events:

1. Celebrate International Women’s Day at the Lodge at Sunset Villas, 7th March, Lusaka

Enjoy a dinner in honour of the International Women’s Day centenary — 1911 to 2011! This event celebrates five Zambian women of reknown. 2. Sample fresh Spanish wines at this wine tasting event on the 10th of March, Lusaka

Six exclusive Spanish wines will be available for tasting (30ml per taste) together with Spanish style tapas (finger foods) at Plates Restaurant and Wine Bar. Their in-house sommelier (wine expert) will be on hand to describe and offer notes on each wine. 3. Senses@Sensorium beauty event on 11th — 12th March, Lusaka

Botox and Restylane will be administered by appointment only at Senses@Sensorium by Dr Alastair Clark from South Africa. Dr Clark graduated from Wits University and went into Easthetic Medicine about 15 years ago. He became the Restylane educator for a Swedish company and travels frequently to Sweden and Paris to teach the administering of Botox and Restylane.

Restylane is a filler. It literally fills all the little and more obvious lines and wrinkles that develop with age. Botox is a gentle immobilizer of the muscles which is injected into areas of the face that have fine lines and wrinkles to smooth the skin and make you look younger and less angry. Botox also has other advantages, it is used for cerebral palsy patients, migraines and excessive sweating on the feet, hands or under arms. 4. Zambia’s premier pub quiz with Chit Chat Café, 16th March, Lusaka

Teams must be no more than eight quizzers and it costs just ZMK50,000 per person including a half time supper! Cash bar available. There’ll be six rounds of 10 questions and each round includes a picture round and the infamous “wipe-out” round. The quiz is from 19:00 to 22:30. 5. Join the Liffy Lads all the way from Ireland at Rhapsody’s Lusaka on the 16th

Rhapsody’s Lusaka present the Liffey Lads for St Patrick’s Day celebrations on the 16th of March. The band are from Ireland and booking is essential for this popular event. 6. Ohagan’s, Lusaka’s premier Irish Pub invites you to celebrate St Patrick’s week with an Irish band, traditional Irish stew and fancy dress!

Steering off the Spanish theme for a moment let’s head north for the Irish St Patrick’s celebrations. O’Hagan’s Irish Pub, is gearing up for St Patrick’s week. They will be hosting a traditional Irish Band all the way from the Emerald Isle on Friday 18th March and admission for this event is absolutely free! It starts at 20:00 hours.

A new draught machine is being specially installed to deliver their freezing cold, specially dyed (green) Castle and Mosi beer draught at a super fast pace! As if that weren’t enough a variety of traditional Irish stews will be served on the 17th and 18th of March. You are also invited to go greeeen for St Paddy’s and there will be prizes for the best dressed. Go on, get your fancy dress glad rags on, and with a bit of that Irish luck, you might even win! 7. The 2011 Zambia International Travel Expo with Africast, March 24th — 26th, Lusaka

The Zambia International Travel Expo (ZITE) is an annual event managed and run by Africast Exhibition Management. It will be held at Mulungushi Conference Centre. The event is endorsed by the Zambia Tourism Board and the Zambia Tourism Council. ZITE is about meaningful networking, benchmarking how your business compares and about meeting new clients to increase your business.

This year’s theme is, “Achieving Zambia’s tourism prosperity through local cooperation”. The expo will address the issue of what Zambian businesses, communities and people can do together to achieve more for the Zambia tourism industry.

8. Throughout March learn Spanish dancing in Zambia!

Get a feel for Flamenco dancing as you take part in a unique opportunity to learn from the widely acclaimed dancers Rosana Maya and Johnny Pienaar, who will be teaching dancing workshops throughout March.

7th, 9th, 14th, 16th and 21st of March Sugarbush Farm are hosting girls and ladies dance workshops between 18:00 and 19:30 hours. Courses cost US$80 per course for the girls and US$100 per course for the ladies. This is the perfect opportunity for a mother, daughter treat or night out with your girls for something fun and different as well as a chance to shop!! 9. Experience the Fallas de San José festival in Spain this March

And finally, since there has been a definite Spanish theme and you’re probably now in the mood for all things Spanish, get in touch with any of our listed Zambian travel agents and plan a trip to Spain this month! Hit the streets of Valencia between the 15th and 19th of March and you can experience the 2011 Fallas de San José. You will witness one of the most incredible festivals in a country where amazing festivals are the norm rather than the exception.
