School life is meant to be that strong foundation that sets young people off to the best start in their young life. Many factors come into what makes a successful schooling foundation including some things that are not in the hands of the school itself. But Namununga School works hard to ensure that their school environment is the best it can be to cultivate knowledge, ambition and commitment to seeing the development of one’s dreams through to fruition. We thought we’d do a little name dropping and celebrate some of the success stories of ex Namununga pupils who have learnt what it takes to pursue their goals and continue to do so.

  • Rungano Nyoni was recently awarded a remarkable prize in film making in the USA.
  • Yoko Shawa is currently featuring in the local soap Kabanana as Namwinga.
  • Madalitso Muthiya is now a professional golfer based in the USA.
  • More recently Abhinav Wallia, a grade 10 pupil emerged victorious in the ‘Teens on the Green’’ championship which took place in the USA in 2010. Abhinav claimed third prize and this award included an educational scholarship by an American school in China.

Namununga School takes their responsibility for developing Zambia’s young people very seriously and works hard to ensure they continue to do this. They aim to ensure pupils are well informed and participate in activities that teach them life lessons. This involves being proactive in getting their pupils involved in a host of clubs and events related to current hot topics. One example of this is the school’s recent involvement in the ‘Go Green Campaign’ sparked by the 40th anniversary of ‘Earth Day’. Pupils have been involved in special events around this campaign, tree planting, essay writing and painting to depict themes around the challenges the world faces on the environment. The ‘Go Green Campaign’ continues. Events like these raise the profile of the school and more importantly encourage the development of pupils through their participation.
