In recognition of all the teachers who schooled us, guided us and allowed us time in the school grounds, October 5th marks World Teachers Day. Since October 5th fell on a Sunday this year, it was celebrated on Monday October 6th in Zambia. In this article NEL Air Conditioning explains how it is doing its part in supporting Zambian education.

About World Teachers Day and the shortage of teachersWorld Teachers Day is an annual celebration that was established by UNESCO and kicked off in 1997 to highlight the accomplishments of educators and the serious challenges that they face. “Unite for quality education. Better education for a better world.” was the theme for this year’s World Teachers Day.

There is a threat to the progress of education and society at large according to UNESCO. By 2030 29 countries might not have enough teachers, unless 3.3 million primary and 5.1 million secondary teaching positions are created and filled. As we all know, education is the most effective agent of positive change and only our collective efforts will build a better future for our students.

NEL Air Conditioning’s support to Zambian educationNEL celebrated World Teachers Day the best way it knows how! Through the air conditioning department, NEL is committed to the efforts of reforming education in a year. NEL’s response to staying committed to supporting teachers and school leaders around the country, is by installing air conditioning equipment in schools, colleges, universities and various academics. 5000 students and pupils are being serviced as of 30th September and this is a clear sign that education innovation and support is alive and well in the country.

Throughout the year, NEL will be looking out for ways to partner with all education stakeholders, helping people to empower students through the meaningful use of air cooling solutions, providing internships and allowing them to reach their full potential. This is in addition to ongoing support for our teachers, the backbones of education.

NEL wants to thank the University of Zambia, Lusaka Apex Medical University, Lake Road PTA School and Justo Mwale Theological University College for their trust in the company. They are also extending their thanks to each and every other one of the educators and school leaders who have chosen NEL as their air cooling solutions provider. Their response has been both humbling and inspiring and the company isw looking forward to getting new clients on board.
