How did you hear about the Best of Zambia competition and what were your thoughts about it?The e-newsletter to the Best of Zambia members was the first we heard of it.
Why did you decide to become a sponsor for the Best of Zambia competition? We would like to see more Zambians visiting our lodge and increase our bookings from within Zambia. We felt this would be good exposure.
For someone who has never been to the Royal Zambezi Lodge, briefly what is a typical day at the lodge like?A typical day includes an early morning breakfast and safari activities as this is one of the best times to spot Zambian wildlife including big cats returning from their night hunts. Return for brunch or relaxation before a hearty lunch. After lunch most guests opt to chill in their suites or use amenities like the pool and spa. Evening game drives and boat rides follow when animals get more active as the temperature gets cooler. Dinner, drinks and safari tails of the day follow. Tell us what kind of experience winners will enjoy at your safari lodge?A wide range of activities, guided by extremely talented and experienced safari and fishing guides. The guests will enjoy delicious cuisine, luxury facilities and experience the Zambezi River in a setting where luxury meets the wild.
What sets the Royal Zambezi Lodge apart from other safari destinations? We have our own Bush Spa (which was a World Luxury Spa winner in 2013) and our own airstrip.
Have you ever had a difficult experience with a guest visiting the lodge and how did you handle it?We haven’t really had any very difficult guests. If we do, we just try and cater to their needs and wishes so they have the best holiday they can.
Share your most memorable positive experience of a guest at your lodge? There are so many to mention! The incredible 21 lbs tiger fish that was caught or the stunning and very romantic marriage proposals we have had or the unbelievable game viewing. One special moment was when guests spotted a male lion ‘surfing’ a dead hippo that was in the river!
Royal Zambezi is a member of The Best of Zambia website. Why did you join the Best of Zambia and what has your experience with us been like?We decided to become a member to help support a fantastic idea of consolidating all of the business and what Zambia has to offer in one central place that is easy to navigate and very helpful. The experience has been very good so far and we find the service very efficient and pleasant too.
What are your plans for Royal Zambezi Lodge in the next few years? Our aim is always to remain competitive without dropping our standards.
