Have you heard about the Oktoberfest? Saturday October the 5th is the date! If you haven’t, let us help you come out from that rock you’ve been under with this ultimate Oktoberfest event guide! It is organised by R&G Events, a Lusaka based Events Planning and Services Company that is dedicated to bringing together events with a difference. Building up to becoming one of the biggest annual music events in Zambia, Oktoberfest is a day of fun, live music, food, drinks and all round awesomeness!

Oktoberfest event guide highlights:

VenueOktoberfest will be hosted at Fringilla Farm Lodge. Conveniently yet remotely situated in Chisamba — just 50kms north of Lusaka — Fringilla is an ideal place for a weekend getaway in a tranquil farm setting.

Free camping will be available to all fest goers. Simply bring your tent and set up in the designated camping spots. Fringilla does offer more conventional accommodation available for booking but we think you’ll be lucky to get a room now!

Music and stageThis year’s Oktoberfest is lined up to be even more unforgettable than the first! R&G are bringing fest goers incredible live music from the likes of Zone Fam (an awesome band voted the ‘Most Gifted Group’ by Channel O), Impact Band (an amazing cover act) and Greg de Villanova (a French-Brazilian DJ and producer), with a hot mix of funk, salsa and Brazilian beats! DJ’s of the day will include DJ Kevin, Supasta DJ, DJ Blocks, DJ Shots, Video DJ Shooter and Sebastien Dutch.

The stage, sound, music and lighting systems will be provided by Zirbo Zambia. Based in Lusaka, Zirbo Zambia is a professional events management company that provides a full stage package for all kinds of functions. This package includes stages, music systems, lighting systems, aluminium trusses, generators and a sound engineer, all ensuring a smooth and successful event. Find out more about Zirbo Zambia here.

TicketsTickets are available at Lush Smoothies at Manda Hill, and at Fringilla Lodge. Tickets can also be purchased by calling Carlyn on 0977 931065. Tickets will also be sold at the gate on the day of the event for those who want to take a last minute chance.

FoodNo great party is complete without great food!! The Grill will be serving up tasty food all night, from the famous Fringilla pies and sausages, to kebabs, chips, and burgers! Orange Cycad Restaurant has also come on board; they will have a stall open for everyone that likes traditional Zambian food. Their menu includes smoked village chicken and goat meat slow cooked in foil over a braai- sounds positively delicious!

BeveragesNobody likes having to queue all night to get a drink. That’s why R&G have arranged FOUR bars for Oktoberfest! All beers will be sold at ZMW10. This applies to both local and imported premium beers. So your favorite beers like Heineken, Castle Lite, Windhoek Draught, Peroni, Miller etc. will all be sold at ZMW10! For those who wish to bring their own drinks, corkage charges will be ZMW50 for a standard cool box and ZMW100 for a large cool box. Drink sponsors include notables like:

Zamtel VIP areaThis year R&G introduced VIP tickets for ZMW200, limited to only 200 tickets. The Zamtel VIP area will be cordoned off and guests will get to enjoy the renowned Fringilla hospitality, with a few extra creature comforts:

  • Exclusive area with seating and fans
  • Exclusive ablution block
  • Complementary snacks by Fringilla Lodge
  • Complementary bottled water
  • Exclusive bar area

In addition, the bands will be based in the VIP area. So VIP guests will have a chance to mingle with them.

Corporate Social ResponsibilityConservation Lower Zambezi will be running one of the bars at the R&G Oktoberfest and all proceeds for that bar will be going to fund their project.
