Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and it’s time to get on board for those who celebrate love. Single, dating or married, Valentine’s is for everyone! We all have someone we love so you don’t have to be alone this Valentine’s day.

Apart from the traditional bouquet of roses and box of heart shaped chocolates, a gift is a great exchange that two people can cherish. It’s not a contest so it doesn’t have to be too expensive or extravagant. What matters is the effort and the thought you put in.

Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your Valentine’s day:

Breakfast in bed

Wake up early, prepare a nice breakfast for your loved one. Add a rose, a card or chocolates.

Dinner for two

A number of eating places are offering specials for Valentine’s Day. Take time to research which places are offering what and the prices, pick a place that’s within your budget. Make a reservation, take your loved out and enjoy a candlelit dinner — just the two of you.

Cook up

Why not cook up your favourite meal together? That way you get to spend quality time together. Besides homemade food is always a good bet.

Jewellery

If you can afford it why not buy? It’s a special day after all and those memories will be held dear to your hearts forever. Check our jewellery shops.

Movie night

Surprise your loved one with a movie night. Pick a movie together or pick a type of movie your loved one likes and watch it together. It can be at home or a cinema — regardless you will still have fun.

Impromptu outdoor date

This year Valentine’s day falls on a Saturday which is convenient enough to take your loved one for a picnic or something out in the wild and fun.

Volunteer

You can volunteer your time to charity this Valentine’s day. Show patients, less privileged children or even the aged some love by simply visiting them and donating things they’ll love.

If you’re single

There is a very good chance that your friends who are also single might be feeling a bit blue on February 14th. Why not hang out with them for a little while and let them know how much they mean to you. And by the way, your happiness doesn’t depend on any other person — you can do something nice for … you.

Dress up

Ladies, dress to impress. There is nothing wrong with wearing something your man likes. Men do the same. Be smart.

Three magic words

Simply say I LOVE YOU and mean it!

Truth be told, am glad this day exists. The world needs a day totally dedicated to love because there’s too much hate circulating. Show some love this Valentine’s.
