The Lusaka Social Good Summit enabled lots of positive discussion under the hashtag

The Lusaka Social Good Summit enabled lots of positive discussion under the hashtag #LskSGS. It’s not too late to join in the conversations. Credit to the people at UNDP Zambia, and lots of other supporters (I’m sure), for organising it.

The Lusaka Social Good Summit was part of the Social Good Summit (SGS) which you must read more about! It was a three day conference held during the United Nations week from September 22–24. The summit is a place where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. This year’s theme was, “How social media, innovation and technology can be used to make the world a better place.”

I was so excited to attend this event. The three biggest take home concepts for me were:

  1. Social media can go beyond being a social platform and be used to make the world a better place.
  2. Zambia has a lot of potential in terms of innovators, and I saw some great examples. What we need is to create more platforms and opportunities for eager young minds.
  3. People want to dialogue with service providers eg. financial institutions and mobile providers, they need to get online!

Here are my highlights from Twitter via our Storify account. If you’re on Storify, let’s connect and work together to spread the change making conversations about Zambia.
