How to use Tadalafil

Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start taking tadalafil and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Usual Adult Dose for Erectile Dysfunction:

Consider that this drug has shown to improve erectile dysfunction up to 36 hours following dosing when used as needed.

• Initial dose: 10 mg orally once a day, as needed, prior to sexual activity
• Maintenance dose: 5 to 20 mg orally once a day, as needed, prior to sexual activity based on individual efficacy and tolerability

Once a day use for ED:

• Initial dose: 2.5 mg orally once a day at approximately the same time, without regard to timing of sexual activity
• Maintenance dose: 2.5 to 5 mg orally once a day based on individual efficacy and tolerability.

Once-daily use for ED and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH):

• 5 mg orally once a day at approximately the same time, without regard to timing of sexual activity

Usual Adult Dose for Pulmonary Hypertension

Adcirca (R):

Dividing the 40 mg dose over the course of the day is not recommended.

• 40 mg orally once a day

Side Effects:

Common side effects:

Common side effects that can occur with tadalafil include:

• Headache
• Upset stomach
• Back pain
• Muscle aches
• Flushing (reddish skin)
• Stuffy or runny nose
• Diarrhoea

If these effects are mild, they may go away within a few days or a couple of weeks. If they’re more severe or don’t go away, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Serious side effects

Call your doctor right away if you have serious side effects. Serious side effects and their symptoms can include the following:

• Priapism (in men). Symptoms can include:
• A painful erection that won’t go away
• Vision changes. Symptoms can include:
• Seeing a shade of blue when looking at objects
• Trouble telling the difference between the colours blue and green
• A sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes
• Hearing loss. Symptoms can include:
• A sudden loss or decrease in hearing
• Ringing in the ears
• Dizziness
• Low blood pressure. Symptoms can include:
• Feeling lightheaded or dizzy
• Fainting
• Angina (chest pain)
